The Thomas's home was a great place to stay, and well within reach of so many interesting places.  Although we didn't get out walking as much as we had hoped, there is obviously plenty of scope locally for short or longer walks, and the books in the study provided us with plenty of choice.

We particularly enjoyed the museum in Cirencester, which was very good value for money, being well laid out, having plenty of information complemented by well presented exhibits, and lots of interactive material.  There was too much for us to take in on one visit, but we prefer to choose what to see and read.

The Jenner Museum in Berkeley was also fascinating, and again good value for money.  Next door, we Berkeley Castle was rather poor value, since it lacked any information about the castle or its history to bring the wonderful exhibits to life.  I had a quick look at the guide book and this too looked rather sketchy.  I did write a short comment in the visitor's book mentioning this.  Although we are not inveterate bird watchers, we did enjoy our visit to Slimbridge, just up the road.

Eating out well was easy, as we found, both locally at the Old Spot and at the Dil Raj.  The set meal for 4 at the latter was delicious, but needed some very hungry people, and the quantities were too much for us!  We really enjoyed our visit to the Pump Room and Sally Lunn's in Bath - both memorable places even if just for the ambiance, although the food tasted good too.

We would also add:

If you enjoy quaintness, Bourton on the Water is hard to beat, although firmly on the tourist trail and therefore generally busy with visitors.  There is a big car park just outside the centre, within easy walking distance of the town.

While you're in the area, upper and lower Slaughter are beautiful, and Stow in the Wold is a pretty little town built around a square.  This area of the Cotswolds in extremely picturesque and well worth a visit.

We had a wonderful holiday in a very pretty part of England.  The house is beautifully spacious and comfortable, and the Hot Tub a real bonus.  I'm currently looking on Ebay...!!!

Thank you both again.  We do hope you were able to explore and enjoy the area around here.  Please give our regards to Simon and Stephen and tell them we're now looking for a real television set!  It won't have a plasma screen, but it might at the very least have a scart socket and a remote!!

Very best wishes,

Donna and Andy
